The
Cattery, S*Sjöliden's, was registered in FIFe 9 April 2002 and it's
runned by mainly Jennie, but Fredrik share the interest of the cats at a more "social level". 15:th of February 2007 we got a son, Vincent, which all the cats actually like, though they never before haven't been especially used to children. And hopefully Vincent will love cats just as much as we do when he gets older. The name Sjöliden is the name of the house where I (Jennie) grew up. It's called Sjöliden because it's lying on a hill which is called Sjöliden, only 50 meters from the sea. Since March 2007 we rent a house in Alvhem. Before we lived in Halmstad for 5½ years, where I studied at the University of Halmstad (60p of Information technology, and Biology 20p and some other courses) parallel to work halftime in 4 years at Arken, a pet things store. Since Vincent was born, I'm maternity leave. Fredrik work as a carpenter and has built among other thing a big fenced out yard for the cats. I got my first own cat1987 (Linus), a creme housecat, whose mother was a creme pointed Persian. After him I got Flisa (1993), a half-sister to Linus and later also Cajsa (1997). Our first common cat we bought in the spring 2001, that is a black Persian, IDP*Sjökanten's Danilo, (Tellus). Actually it was meant that I should have a Norwegian Forest Cat, so she came instead in October 2001. It was EC IDP*Axzon's Gabbie, (Selene). We kept GIC S*Sjöliden's Queen Artemis, after the first litter of "Selene" and 2004 we bought our fifth cat - EC S*Aristo Limaz Giovanna Rozz, (Gio). All our cats live with us as family members and have free access to the whole house. They also have a fenced out yard as they can go in and out to whenever they want. The interest for breeding started early for me, since my aunt bred a few litters with Persians. I delivered & rescued my first kitten when I was 10 years old, by my self! The interest for the genetics started in high school, when we studied genetics in biology. So the interest for cat genetics is big and gets even more interesting the more I learn. To develop in the subject I studied genetics at the University, autumn 2006. I also have an interest in medium and so on. In the breeding of Norwegian Forest Cat, we put our most importance with the temperament, but we strive all the time to get breed typical kittens. The type is very important; it shall show that it is a "real" Norwegian Forest Cat. A good size is also important; a NFC should not be a small thin cat. That it is healthy and sound is obvious. We spend a lot of time with the kittens to get them as social as possible. We are also anxious to have a good contact with the kittens' new "parents" even after the cat has moved to its new home. And we appreciate a lot that they keep us "updated" of what's happening with the cat and also send us photos. Some photos: Vincent, Jennie & Fredrik, The House. |
